Marketing Manager (full-time)
the future of agency (tfoa) is hiring a Marketing Manager to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an experienced book marketer who has independently run campaigns and is ready to take on greater ownership across both strategy and execution in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This role reports to the Senior Marketing Director and will lead marketing campaigns for a range of fiction and nonfiction titles, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and publishing partners. You’ll manage day-to-day campaign execution while also contributing to higher-level strategy, working closely with the Senior Marketing Director and Founder to ensure campaigns are creative, effective, and aligned with client goals.
In addition to client work, this role will support internal initiatives, including refining processes and contributing to agency marketing and social media.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Plan and execute marketing campaigns for assigned clients/projects across fiction and nonfiction titles (~30 campaigns per year) in collaboration with our marketing team
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including authors, publishers, and agents—leading communication, updates, and campaign reporting
Develop and execute campaign strategies across influencer marketing, partnerships, social media, book clubs, and other channels
Write and create campaign materials, including pitch emails, social media content, marketing copy, presentations, and reporting documents
Build and maintain relationships with influencers, book clubs, booksellers, and other professional contacts to support campaign goals
Manage timelines, deliverables, and campaign workflows to ensure work is completed on schedule and at a high standard
Analyze campaign performance and develop insights and recommendations based on data, trends, and results
Collaborate with freelancers and contractors to execute campaign deliverables, including managing assignments, deadlines, and communication
Contribute to tfoa brand marketing efforts, including social media, newsletter content, and participation in industry events
Maintain and refine internal systems, workflows, and processes to support team efficiency and campaign success
Ensure team-wide accountability and performance through clear expectations, consistent oversight, and supportive leadership
Mentor junior marketers, including managing tfoa marketing interns
Who You Are:
An experienced book marketer with a track record of running successful campaigns for both fiction and nonfiction titles
Highly organized with strong attention to detail across both strategy and execution
A clear and confident communicator, comfortable leading author communication
Creative and curious, with a strong understanding of current marketing trends and platforms
Comfortable balancing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of your work and follows through
Highly organized and operationally minded—you love tools, templates, and making systems better
A collaborative team player who contributes ideas and supports others
Passionate about books, publishing, and connecting stories with readers
Qualifications:
Employment eligibility to work in the US is required
Must be able to work full business hours (M-F, 9-5 ET)
3–5 years of experience in publishing, book marketing, or a related field preferred
Experience managing marketing campaigns and client relationships required
Strong knowledge of social media (Instagram, Threads, BlueSky, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) and management tools (HeyOrca, Sprout, Buffer, Later, etc.) is a plus, but not required
Familiarity with marketing software and tools, including CRM, CMS, analytics, and social listening (Hubspot, Salesforce, Squarespace, Wordpress, Meltwater, Brandwatch, Mailchimp, etc.) is a plus, but not required
Experience working with influencers, book clubs, partnerships, or community-based marketing is a plus
Benefits & Salary:
The compensation range for this position is $70,000–80,000.
Starting pay for the successful candidate depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
This is a fully remote position with optional travel 1–2 times per year for meetings and conferences.
